Muscat: MSM stocks continued its declining trend for the straight fifth session and index closed at 3,877.50 points, down 0.34 per cent. The Sharia Index also closed lower by 0.09 per cent at 537.42 points. A special deal of 22.8 million shares resulted in Ominvest becoming the most active in terms of volume and turnover. Raysut Cement, up 4.55 per cent, was the top gainer while Arabia Falcon Insurance, down 8.93 per cent was the top loser.
A total number of 502 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR9.51 million with more than 35.89 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 11 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani Investors were net buyers for OMR608,000, while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR380,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR229,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,281.43 points, down 0.23 per cent. National Life & General Insurance, Vision Insurance, Al Batinah investment Holding, and Gulf Investment Services were up 3.94 per cent, 3.74 per cent, 2.50 per cent, and 1.61 per cent respectively. Arabia Falcon Insurance Company, HSBC Bank Oman, Al Sharqiya Investment Holding, Sohar International Bank, and Bank Muscat were down by 8.93 per cent, 1.74 per cent, 1.32 per cent, 0.91 per cent, and 0.49 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4632.94 points, up 0.58 per cent. Raysut Cement, Oman Fisheries, and Galfar Engineering were up 4.55 per cent, 1.47 per cent, and 1.28 per cent respectively. There were no losers from the industrial sector stocks.
Services index was down 0.61 per cent before closing at 1,906.72 points. OIFC closed higher by 1.11 per cent. National Gas, Renaissance Services, Omantel, Sembcorp Salalah, and Al Jazeera Services were down by 3.13 per cent, 1.71 per cent, 1.08 per cent, 0.97 per cent, and 0.87 per cent respectively.
