Muscat: MSM30 index closed at 3,858.62 points, down 0.45 per cent. The Sharia Index also closed up by 0.01 per cent at 538.21 points. Al Sharqia Investment, up 2.63 per cent, was the top gainer while Renaissance Service, down 9.96 per cent was the top loser. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as turnover.
A total number of 405 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR2.157 million with more than 8.88 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 12 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR1.04 million, while GCC & Arab Investors were net sellers for OMR833,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR207,000 shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,284.23 points, up 0.37 per cent. Al Sharqia Investment, Sohar International Bank, HSBC Oman and Bank Nizwa were up by 2.63 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 1.79 per cent, and 1.14 per cent respectively. Al Omaniya Financial, Oman & Emirates, Al Batinah Dev and Al Madina Takaful were down 4.76 per cent, 1.27 per cent, 1.22 per cent and 1.18 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,597.31 points, up 0.10 per cent. Al Anwar ceramic was up 0.94 per cent. There were no declining stocks from the sector.
Services index was down 1.36 per cent before closing at 1,895.76 points. OIFC was up 1.12 per cent. Renaissance service, United power, Al Batinah power and AL Suwadi power were down 9.96 per cent, 6.37 per cent, 2.63 per cent and 1.28 per cent respectively.
