Muscat: MSM30 index closed at 3,755.55 points, down 0.74 per cent. The Sharia Index also closed down by 1.72 per cent at 518.22 points. Bank Muscat, up 0.49 per cent, was the top gainer, while Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, down 8.86 per cent, was the top loser. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Oman Flour Mills was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 351 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.93 million with more than 9.83 million shares changing hands. Out of 29 traded stocks, 2 advanced, 15 declined and 12 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net sellers for OMR645,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR357,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR287,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,211.50 points, down 0.51 per cent. Bank Muscat was the only sector gainer and closed at OMR0.408, up 0.49 per cent. Oman & Emirates Investment Holding Company, Gulf Investment Services, Al Batinah Investment Holding, Sohar International Bank, and Al Madina Takaful were down by 8.86 per cent, 8.82 per cent, 4.71 per cent, 1.85 per cent, and 1.22 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,394.80 points, down 2.02 per cent. Oman Flour Mills, Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles, Oman Fisheries, Oman Cement and Galfar Engineering were down by 7.50 per cent, 6.06 per cent, 5.63 per cent, 4.98 per cent, and 1.28 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.19 per cent before closing at 1,844.81 points. Ooredoo was only sector gainer and closed at OMR0.460, up by 0.44 Ooredoo. OIFC and Omantel were down by 3.26 Ooredoo, and 1.49 Ooredoo respectively.
