Sialkot Stallions, Pitch Smashers triumph at FRiENDi Mobile Summer Cup

Muscat: Sialkot Stallions and Pitch Smashers won the men’s and women’s titles respective at FRiENDi Mobile Summer Cup cricket tournament organised by Jazz Boys Cricket Club at Al Ghubra powerplant ground recently.
The tournament was mainly sponsored by FRiENDi Mobile, Al Hajiry Group, Strabag Oman, Al Jarwani Hospitality, Khurshid Trading, Tile Marine, Al Jarwani Hospitality, Al Faisal and The Body Shop.
Eugene Commendant, Marketing and Product Director of FRiENDi Mobile, and Jason Varghese, Executive Director of Al Hajiry Trading, were the guests of honour at the prize-giving ceremony.
Vaishali Jesrani, women’s cricket coordinator at Oman Cricket, praised the six women’s teams for their participation especially the two teams from Sohar.
The Oman Cricket official also hoped for more women will come forward to participate in such events in the future.
Vinu Mathew, Jazz Boys Club - Organiser, congratulated the winners and thanked all the sponsors for their continued support.
Men’s results:
Quarterfinals: SS Friends beat Klair XI in Super Over. Man of the match: Susanth (SS Friends); Cheers XI 58/8 lost to OEC 61/5. Man of the match: Tahir (OEC); Future Oilfield 50/8 lost to Royal Challengers 52/6; Man of the match: Sameer (Royal Challengers); Sialkot Stallions 121/5 beat Masters XI 94/5. Man of the match: Nadeem (Sialkot Stallions).
Semifinals: Royal Challengers 62/5 lost to Sialkot Stallions 64/2. Man of the match: Shani Butt (Sialkot Stallions); OEC 90 beat SS Friends 34. Man of the match: Tahir (OEC).
Final: OEC 65/7 lost to Sialkot Stallions 66/4. Man of the match: Nabil (Sialkot Stallions).
