Muscat: The sighting of the moon will be possible on Tuesday if the weather is clear.
A statement issued online by the Astronomical Affairs Department at MERA said: "Astronomical calculations in the city of Muscat indicate that the moon will be in conjunction on Monday at 9:33 pm local time in the Sultanate and the sun sets on Tuesday at 6:54 pm."
"The moon will descend at 7:44 pm, meaning that the moon will descend about 49 minutes after sunset and it will be away from the sun by less than 12 degrees and at a height of 10 degrees above the western horizon, and its light intensity will be 1.09 per cent."
"Therefore, in the event of clear weather, seeing the crescent of the month of Dhu Al-Hijjah 1441 AH, on Tuesday, 29 Dhu Al-Qi'dah 1441 AH corresponding to July 21, 2020, will be possible," the statement added.
