Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,592.69 points, down 0.07 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended up 0.44 per cent at 515.93 points. SMN Power, up 5.63 per cent was the top gainer while Oman National Engineer 5.08 per cent, was the top loser. Al Anwar Ceramic was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Omantel was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 466 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.0 million, with more than 5.3 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded stocks, 13 advanced, 9 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR481,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR 418,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR63,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,793.62 points, down by 0.15 per cent. Al Madina Investment, National Life, Bank Muscat and Oman & Emirates Investment were up by 4.17 per cent, 3.70 per cent, 2.81 per cent, and 2.17 per cent respectively. Al Omaniya Financial, Oman Arab Bank, Ahlia Bank and Bank Dhofar were down by 4.00 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 2.22 per cent, and 1.90 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,980 points, up 0.04 per cent. Al Maha Ceramics, Al Anwar Ceramic, and Galfar Engineer were up by 5.00 per cent, 4.17 per cent and 2.14 per cent respectively. National Aluminium and Raysut Cement were down by 2.25 per cent and 0.67 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.17 per cent before closing at 1,561.22 points. SMN Power, OIFC, National Gas and Al Jazeera Service were up by 5.63 per cent, 2.30 per cent, 1.97 per cent and 0.57 per cent respectively. Oman National Engineer, Ooredoo, and Omantel were down by 5.08 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.64 per cent respectively.
