Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,556.96 points, down 0.03 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended down by 0.15 per cent at 521.37. Oman Education, up 3.19 per cent, was the top gainer while Muscat Finance Shares, down 2.08 per cent, was the top loser. Gulf Investment was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Al Anwar Ceramic was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 365 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.788 million, with more than 5.34 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 7 declined and 31 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR82,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR72,000 followed by domestic for OMR9,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 0.06 per cent at, 5,698.30 points. Al Madina Takaful was up by 1.32 per cent. Muscat Finance, Gulf Investment and Bank Muscat were down by 2.08 per cent, 1.52 per cent and 0.58 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,956.54 points, up 0.14 per cent. Oman Cement and Al Anwar Ceramic were up by 0.9 per cent and 0.65 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.30 per cent before closing at 1,534.74 points. Oman Education, Muscat Gases, Al Suwadi Power, Ooredoo and Oman National were up by 3.19 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.01 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively. Phoenix Power, Renaissance Service, National Detergent and Sembcorp Salalah were down by 1.82 per cent, 1.58 per cent, 1.32 per cent and 0.92 per cent respectively.
