
Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,730.10 points, up 1.08 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended up by 0.11 per cent at 524.08. Bank Dhofar, up 4.76 per cent was the top gainer while Oman & Emirates Investment, down 1.96 per cent, was the top loser. Sohar International Bank was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 569 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.8 million, with more than 11.0 million shares changing hands. Out of 47 traded stocks, 15 advanced, 3 declined and 29 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR182,000 while foreign were net sellers for OMR162,000 followed by local for OMR20,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 1.46 per cent at, 6,036.16 points. Bank Dhofar, HSBC Oman, Sohar International Bank, Bank Muscat and Oman United Insurance were up by 4.76 per cent, 3.19 per cent, 3.13 per cent, 2.04 per cent and 1.59 per cent respectively. Oman & Emirates Investment and Muscat Insurance were down by 1.96 per cent and 1.13 per cent.
Industrial Index closed at 4,003.10 points, up 0.04 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel, Al Anwar Ceramic and Al Maha Ceramics were up by 1.06 per cent, 0.64 per cent and 0.49 per cent respectively. Galfar was down by 1.82 per cent.
Services index was up 0.10 per cent before closing at 1,566.76 points. Al Batinah Power, SMN Power, OIFC, Dhofar Generating and Al Maha Petroleum were up by 1.85 per cent, 1.37 per cent, 1.12 per cent, 1.09 per cent and 0.37 per cent respectively.
