Over 45,000 SMEs register with Riyada till July

Muscat: The total number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) registered with the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development at the end of July 2020 stood at 45,094, comprising an increase by 11.8 per cent compared to the same period of 2019, according to the data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Among the governorates, the Governorate of Muscat topped the list with 34 per cent SMEs registered till the end of July 2020, followed by the Governorate of North Al Batinah with 16 per cent, the Governorate of Al Dakhliyah with 13 per cent and the Governorate of Dhofar with 8 per cent, while the rest of governorates comprised 29 per cent.
The Governorate of Muscat registered 15,181 SMEs at the end of July 2020, followed by the Governorate of North Al Batinah with 7,123, Governorate of Al Dakhliyah with 5,687, Governorate of Dhofar with 3,796, Governorate of South Al Batinah with 3,341, and the Governorate of North Al Sharqiyah with 3,056 SMEs.
This was followed by the Governorate of Al Dhahirah with 2,662 SMEs, the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah with 2,606 SMEs, and the Governorate of Al Buraimi with 958 registered SMEs.
The Governorate of Al Wusta registered 511 SMEs and the Governorate of Musandam registered 173 SMEs, which is the lowest among governorates at the end of July 2020.
