Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,564.11 points, up 0.19 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.07 per cent at 518.10 points. Raysut Cement, up 8.51 per cent was the top gainer while Gulf Investment, down 9.38 per cent, was the top loser. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Dhofar Generating was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number 173 of trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.404 million, with more than 3.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 32 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 5 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR27,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR15,000 followed by local investors for OMR12,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,641.30 points, down by 0.05 per cent. Gulf Investment and Al Sharqia Investment were down by 9.38 per cent and 1.47 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,995.98 points, up 0.79 per cent. Raysut Cement and Galfar Engineering up by 8.51 per cent and 2.63 per cent respectively. Al Maha Ceramics was down by 0.99 per cent.
Services index was up 0.24 per cent before closing at 1,589.32 points. Sembcorp Salalah, Dhofar Generating, Al Batinah Power and Al Suwadi Power were up by 3.64 per cent, 2.75 per cent, 1.89 per cent, and 1.85 per cent respectively. OIFC and Oman National Engineer were down by 3.41 per cent and 1.80 per cent.
