Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,535.97 points, down 0.06 per cent from the previous close.

The Sharia Index ended down 0.05 per cent at 514.45 points. SMN Power up 3.90 per cent was the top gainer while Oman National Engineer, down 2.75 per cent, was the top loser. Renaissance Service was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and also was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 163 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR471,000, with more than 1.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 27 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 10 declined and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR83,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR73,000 followed by domestic investors for OMR10,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,595.67 points, down by 0.03 per cent. There were no gainers from the sector. Al Madina Takaful closed lower by 1.37 per cent at OMR0.072.
Industrial Index closed at 3,989.72 points, up 0.35 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Al Anwar Ceramic, Al Maha Ceramics, and Al Jazeera Steel were up by 2.56 per cent, 1.49 per cent, 0.98 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively.

Services index was down 0.14 per cent before closing at 1,588.96 points. SMN Power and Al Jazeera Service were up by 3.90 per cent, and 0.49 per cent respectively. Oman National Engineer, National Gas and Ooredoo were down by 2.75 per cent, 1.38 per cent and 1.04 per cent respectively.
