Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,627.66 points, up 0.09 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.15 per cent at 516.14 points. Muscat Finance, up 2.63, was the top gainer while Gulf Investment, down 8.33 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Gulf Investment was the most active in terms of number of shares traded and Ooredoo was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 295 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR595,000, with more than 3.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 5 declined and 26 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR181,000 while local were net sellers for OMR156,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR24,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,752.990 points, up by 0.03 per cent. Muscat Finance was up by 2.63 per cent. Gulf Investment, United Finance, National Life, Al Madina Takaful and HSBC Oman were down by 8.33 per cent, 2.7 per cent, 2.20 per cent, 1.33 per cent, and 1.09 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,028.52 points, up 0.12 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel and Al Anwar Ceramic were up by 2.46 per cent and 0.49 per cent. Al Maha Ceramic was down by 0.48 per cent respectively.
Services index was up by 0.16 per cent before closing at 1,587.50 points. Renaissance Service was up by 1.84 per cent.
