Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,612.62 points, down 0.41 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.05 per cent at 516.42 points. Phoenix Power, up 1.85 per cent was the top gainer while Bank Dhofar, down 3.77 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Ooredoo were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and also was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 284 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR660,000, with more than 3.0 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 10 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR113,000 while foreign were net sellers for OMR94,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR18,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,723.21 points, down by 0.52 per cent. National Life, HSBC Bank Oman, Bank Nizwa and Ominvest were up by 1.68 per cent, 1.09 per cent, 1.01 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively. Bank Dhofar, Oman United Insurance, and Bank Muscat were down by 3.77 per cent, 2.56 per cent and 2.09 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,013.15 points, down 0.38 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Raysut Cement, Al Jazeera Steel and Oman Cement were down by 2.44 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.63 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively.
Services index was up by 0.13 per cent before closing at 1,589.63 points. Phoenix Power and Muscat City were up by 1.85 per cent, and 1.02 per cent respectively. SMN Power, Al Jazeera Service and Renaissance Service were down by 1.22 per cent, 0.99 per cent and 0.60 per cent respectively.
