Muscat: Oman Air flew a delegation of Omani students to the recently held Arabian Travel Market (ATM) at Dubai’s World Trade Centre, the airline said.
In an official communiqué, Oman Air said the students of Oman Tourism College and the German University of Technology in Muscat were able to make the most of the event’s many seminars and conferences.
“In addition to listening to thought-provoking debates and research, market data, trends and case studies presented by leading industry figures, the students were able to broaden their knowledge about the many global and regional suppliers who exhibited at the ATM,” the statement said.
Quoting Khalid Abdulwahab Al Balushi, senior manager for government affairs and head of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme at Oman Air, it said, “Oman Air recognises that education is one of the fundamental building blocks of our nation’s future prosperity. Education is therefore a priority area within Oman Air’s comprehensive CSR programme. This latest initiative has provided opportunities for students who would otherwise not have been able to participate in the ATM.”
Students who were part of the tour lauded the airliner’s efforts.
Salma bint Abdullah Abdul Rahman, who studies at the Oman Tourism College, said, “We are grateful to Oman Air. Without the airline’s help, we would not have been able to participate and what we have learned at this major event will help us with both, our current studies and our future careers.”
“The ATM is a major global event of the tourism industry and attending it gave us insights that we could never otherwise have gained,” said Safa Al Dhahli of the German University of Technology.
