Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,646.09 points, up 0.07 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.63 per cent at 54.68 points. Gulf Investment, up 3.03 per cent was the top gainer while Al Kamil Power, down 5.81 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Phoenix Power were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Oman United Insurance was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 293 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.72 million, with more than 4.56 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded stocks, 10 advanced, 5 declined and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR80,000 while GCC & Arab were net sellers for OMR72,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR7,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,714.85 points, up by 0.47 per cent. Gulf Investment, Taageer Finance, Al Anwar Holding, National Bank of Oman and Bank Muscat were up by 3.03 per cent, 2.35 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.27 per cent and 1.03 per cent respectively. Oman & Emirates Investment Al Sharqia Investment and Sohar International Bank were down by 2.27 per cent, 1.45 per cent and 1.03 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,026.67 points, up 0.47 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Al Anwar Ceramic, Oman Cable and Al Jazeera Steel were up by 2.50 per cent, 1.95 per cent, 0.94 per cent and 0.84 per cent respectively.

Services index was flat before closing at 1,600.79 points. Renaissance Service was up by 0.6 per cent. Al Kamil Power and Ooredoo were down by 5.81 per cent and 0.51 per cent respectively.
