Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,654.43 points, up 0.10 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.16 per cent at 509.27 points. Oman & Emirates Investment, up 10.0 per cent was the top gainer while Al Suwadi Power, down 1.89 per cent, was the top loser.

Shares of Ominvest Perpetual Bonds were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and also were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 602 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR7.5 million, with more than 15.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded stocks, 16 advanced, 7 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR328,000 while local were net sellers for OMR216,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR111,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,719.87 points, up by 0.06 per cent. Oman & Emirates Investment, Gulf Investment, United Finance, Al Anwar Holding and Al Sharqia Investment were up by 10.0 per cent, 5.48 per cent, 5.13 per cent, 1.61 per cent, and 1.47 per cent respectively. Sohar International Bank and Bank Dhofar were down by 1.05 per cent and 1.00 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,102.82 points, up 1.39 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel, Raysut Cement, Oman Cement, Dhofar Cattle Feed, and Al Anwar Ceramic were up by 6.15 per cent, 3.90 per cent, 3.00 per cent, 2.91 per cent and 2.38 per cent respectively.

Services index was down by 0.07 per cent before closing at 1,596.67 points.  Al Jazeera Service and Renaissance Service were up by 1.51 per cent and 1.18 per cent respectively. Al Suwadi Power, OIFC, Ooredoo and Omantel were down by 1.89 per cent, 1.11 per cent, 1.02 per cent and 0.58 per cent respectively.
