Man imprisoned, fined for violating movement ban

Muscat: A sentence of ten months in prison and a fine of OMR 700 for a citizen who violated the movement ban.

According to the Public Prosecution, the man has been arrested after he hit his vehicle to a wall of one of the houses during the movement ban period, and it was found that he was under the effect of drugs and was transferred to the court.

PP said, "The Court of First Instance in Seeb has convicted a citizen of a misdemeanour for refraining from implementing the procedures and measures established to limit the spread of the Corona pandemic, misdemeanour driving his vehicle under the influence of drug and misdemeanour abuse of narcotic substances in cases other than those authorized by law."

"The court ruled to punish the accused with 10 months imprisonment and a fine of OMR 700 and withdraw his driver's license for a year after carrying out the prison sentence, prevent him from travelling for a period equal to the prison sentence period and authorize the publication of the judgment," PP added.
