MoCIIP's 'Made in Oman' campaign to end soon

Muscat: The 'Made in Oman campaign, which is being  Organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP), will end on Tuesday December 15, 2020.

The campaign aims to support the Omani industry by promoting its products, encouraging the local and residing consumers to buy Omani products. It also seeks to find new marketing outlets for the Omani Products in the commercial centers, malls and hypermarkets in Oman.

According to the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total value of Omani non-oil exports from the beginning of the year 2020  last to June 2020, reached to RO (1,397) Billion.

Nasima bint Yahya Al Balushi, head of the national campaign team for supporting the Omani product (Made in Oman) at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said, the Omani non-oil exports during 2020 til the end of June of the same year, included the most important 5 Omani products, such as manufactured minerals products, reached to RO (408,885,621) Million, chemical and related industries  products, reached to RO (272,126,512) Million, other Mineral products with value of RO.(178,895,202) Million, live animals and animal products, with a value of  RO.(120,727,09) Million, and plastics and rubber products with  value of RO(82,521,548) Million.  

The United Arab of Emirates, was the most important export destination for Omani products from the beginning of 2020 til March of the same  year,  followed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,  the State of Qatar, the United States of America, and India, Nasima added.

Her Excellency Halima bint Rashid al-Zer'aiyah, Chairperson of the Authority of Small and Medium Enterprises Development,  said: We at the  Authority of SME are pleased to be partners in activating and supporting the "Made in Amman" campaign, which aims to enhance community awareness about the importance of buying the Omani products, supporting its exporters, and drawing the public  attention to the Quality of  the local products.

She said, SME sector is witnessing a remarkable cumulative growth, as the database of the Authority of Small and Medium Enterprises Development till the end of November 2020, includes more than 48,000 SMEs that are operating in various sectors of activities.  

She added, this growth in the number of small and medium enterprises which provide their high-quality products and services to domestic and foreign consumers, constitutes an important factor in the development of the entrepreneurship sector in Oman.

The campaign was held in association with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), The Authority of Small , Medium Enterprises Development , The Consumer Protection Authority, and a number of other relevant entities from  public and private  sectors.
