Oman’s share index ends lower marginally

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,601.27 points, down 0.17 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.03 per cent at 509.69 points. Gulf Investment, up 1.32 per cent, was the top gainer while Muscat Finance, down 2.56 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Gulf Investment was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 199 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.67 million, with more than 3.46 million shares changing hands. Out of 48 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 13 declined and 28 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR215,000 while local were net sellers for OMR145,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR70,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,575.25 points, down by 0.15 per cent. Gulf Investment was up by 1.32 per cent. Muscat Finance and Bank Muscat were down by 2.56 per cent, and 0.50 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4125.98, points, down 0.08 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel and Oman Fisheries were down by 1.47 per cent and 1.15 per cent respectively.
Services index was down by 0.18 per cent before closing at 1,578.37 points. Renaissance Service was down by 1.73 per cent.
