Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has discussed the effects of applying the new electricity tariff on local industries.
The meeting discussed the effects of applying cost-reflective electricity tariffs on local industries and new investments and finding solutions for them considering the industrial sector is one of the most important sectors that promote economic diversification in the Sultanate according to Oman 2040 Vision, as well as inviting industrial businessmen to discuss their challenges with direct officials in the electricity sector.
The Ministry is seeking, based on the outputs of the Industrial Strategy 2040 within the tenth five-year plan 2021-2025 workshop, to focus in particular on improving energy efficiency for local industries so that they can compete in regional and international markets.
The Ministry has organized a workshop on the effects of implementing cost-reflexive electricity tariffs on local industries and new investments. During the workshop, a number of working papers were reviewed, and a direct discussion was opened between the Ministry, the Public Services Regulatory Authority and the Omani Industrialists and Industrial Businessmen Association.
