Indians top the list of passengers travelling through Oman airports

Muscat: The number of passengers through the airports of the Sultanate of Oman increased by 5.1 percent by the end of September 2024, recording 11,102,451 million passengers on board 82,521 flights, compared to 10,565,754 million passengers on board 80,065 flights by the end of September 2023.

 Preliminary statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information showed that the number of passengers through Muscat International Airport reached about 9 million, 764 thousand and 530 passengers by the end of last September, an increase of 4.7 percent, who travelled on board 73,137 flights, an increase in the number of flights by 3.4 percent.

Among the flights through Muscat International Airport were 66,207 international flights, with 8,846,484 million passengers travelling, and 6,930 domestic flights, with 918,046 passengers travelling.

 Statistics indicated that the number of passengers travelling through Salalah Airport reached 1,230,326 passengers by the end of last September, an increase of 6.8 percent compared to the end of September 2023. They travelled on 8,374 flights, with a decrease of 0.6 percent.

The number of international flights through Salalah Airport reached 4,110 flights, with 542,327 passengers travelling, while the number of domestic flights reached 4,264 flights, with 687,999 passengers travelling.

As for the number of passengers travelling through Sohar Airport, it reached 62,842 passengers on 544 flights, while the number of passengers travelling through Duqm Airport reached 44,753 passengers on 466 flights.

As for the most prominent nationalities moving at Muscat International Airport by the end of last September, the Indian nationality topped the list of passengers on departing and arriving flights with a total of 149,561 passengers (79,097 arriving passengers and 70,464 departures), followed by the Bangladeshi nationality with a total of 104,509 passengers (52,517 arriving passengers and 51,992 departing passengers), then the Pakistani nationality with a total of 47,103 passengers (25,114 arriving passengers and 21,989 departing passengers).
