Khoulah hospital successfully treats complex Brain Aneurysms with advanced technology

Muscat: A specialised medical team at Khoulah Hospital has successfully performed four unique surgeries to treat wide-neck brain aneurysms using advanced medical devices. These devices offer a less invasive alternative to traditional open surgery.

Dr. Ahmed bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Consultant of Interventional Neuroradiology, highlighted the benefits of the new technology: ease of use, precise treatment delivery, reduced surgical risks, and elimination of the need for blood thinners when using stents, thus minimizing potential complications.

These devices allow for complete treatment of aneurysms at the neck, expanding the range of treatable cases, both hemorrhagic and non-hemorrhagic. The team plans to treat 20 more cases within the next two years, according to Dr. Al Habsi.

Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al Alawi, Director-General of Khoulah Hospital, emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating it represents a major advancement in specialized medical care, aligning with the latest global standards. He added that it reinforces Khoulah Hospital's position as a leading center for complex medical treatments and marks a significant improvement for Oman's healthcare sector.
