Muscat: The 20th edition of Oman Real Estate Conference and Exhibition will kick off next week, coinciding with Design and Construction Week, from May 19 to 24 at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).
The event is organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in collaboration with Oman Real Estate Association.
This was announced during a press conference held by the ministry today to unveil the details of the conference.
The exhibition will witness broad participation from local and international real estate investors, developers, representatives of global consulting firms, and experts in real estate, urban planning, and development. The conference serves as a strategic platform to showcase major real estate projects, explore promising investment opportunities, and strengthen effective partnerships between the public and private sectors.
It also presents an opportunity for prospective homeowners, offering a diverse range of units from real estate developers and allowing close examination of project details.
The conference will address six key themes reflecting Oman’s approaches toward developing a modern and sustainable real estate environment. These include enhancing the sector’s legal and regulatory framework by updating legislation and streamlining registration and documentation procedures, as well as expanding real estate financing tools and institutional investment to promote financial inclusion and attract long-term investments.
Additionally, the conference will explore the adoption of smart and sustainable city models based on multi-resource development and improved quality of life, alongside enabling digital transformation and real estate innovation (PropTech) through cutting-edge technologies in planning, management, and marketing.
The event will highlight diverse housing solutions that meet societal needs and provide integrated investment opportunities, as well as activate public-private partnerships to accelerate developmental projects and boost the private sector’s role in urban infrastructure development.
This year’s conference will announce groundbreaking projects for future cities, opening avenues for local and global investment in a strategic move that paves the way for integrated economic growth. This aligns with the government’s vision of building smart cities and comprehensive urban communities.
In line with the ministry’s commitment to providing suitable housing options that enhance quality of life, the conference will witness the signing of several partnership and development agreements under the "Sorouh" initiative for integrated residential neighborhoods and masterplans. This initiative is a cornerstone for building fully serviced residential communities supported by smart infrastructure and strategic private-sector partnerships.
To date, the initiative includes 18 projects across 10 governorates, with the first phase achieving a sales rate exceeding 90%, reflecting strong public demand for this integrated housing model.
On the economic empowerment front, "Sorouh" projects have created over 360 direct jobs for Omanis within development companies, while more than 145 small and medium enterprises have benefited from business opportunities linked to the projects, supporting the local economy. The initiative has also reduced infrastructure costs by over 45% compared to traditional land distribution models, thanks to integrated planning and optimized urban density.
The conference will also unveil a new package of investment opportunities for developing integrated neighborhoods and masterplans, offering promising prospects for real estate developers and expanding access to suitable housing for citizens—a step that contributes to sector growth and improved quality of life across governorates.
The 20th edition of the Oman Real Estate Conference and Exhibition will attract elite local and international experts and speakers, featuring over 40 participants in 10 interactive dialogue sessions covering a wide range of topics related to urban development, real estate investment, sustainability, and smart urban planning. The event will include around 180 exhibition booths spanning over 13,000 square meters.
The accompanying exhibition will provide a comprehensive space to showcase the ministry’s key projects, including Sultan Haitham City, Oman Mountain Destination, Al Khwair Down Town Masterplan, Salalah Future City, and a city in the heart of Muscat. It will also detail the Greater Muscat Structural Plan and projects under the "Sorouh" initiative for integrated residential communities. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore housing services through an immersive experience that brings them closer to the ministry’s projects and offerings.
The conference will feature a rich program of interactive events and activities, including live showcases of future urban projects, specialized workshops on design and urban planning, an investment forum, a youth forum, and a series of panel discussions addressing challenges and presenting international solutions and expertise.
The conference underscores Oman’s commitment to presenting an integrated developmental model that celebrates architectural identity, improves resource management, and invests in people and places—all within an ambitious national vision.
