MUSCAT: Al Nahda were crowned champions of His Majesty The Sultan’s Football Cup following a thrilling final held on Saturday evening.
Al Nahda secured the title by beating Oman Club by two goals in the decisive match staged at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
At the behest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat, graced the final match of the 2025/2026 sports season.
Entry was free for the match in Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
Prior to this edition, the two sides had met only twice in the competition — both encounters coming in the 2008 quarterfinals. The first leg ended in a draw before Al Nahda secured victory in the return leg to advance.
Oman Club had previously lifted the prestigious trophy in 1979 and 1994, and finished runners-up in the inaugural 1971 edition.
The club booked its place in this year’s final after a 1-1 draw against Al Nasr in the second leg of the semifinal, progressing 3-2 on aggregate.
Al Nahda, meanwhile, had clinched its maiden title in 2023 at the same venue, adding further significance to this latest triumph.
