Knowledge Oasis Muscat is home over OMR8.5mn worth of projects

Muscat: Knowledge Oasis Muscat, the technology arm of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), recorded positive growth indicators during 2025, through the localisation of a group of projects with a total investment of OMR8.53 million. The leased areas exceeds 21,000 square metres, which reflects the continuation of investment activity and the growing interest in investing in the technology and knowledge sectors.

Engineer Jaafar bin Ali Al-Ajmi, Director General of Knowledge Oasis Muscat, said that the total cumulative investment in the Oasis until the end of 2025 amounted to about OMR276.88 million, while the number of workers amounted to 1,671 Omani and 716 expatriate workers. The total area of the Oasis is about 759,566 square metres, of which an area available for rent is estimated at 494,832 square metres. The total area rented until the end of 2025 amounted to about 381,312 square metres.

He added to the Oman News Agency that the Knowledge Oasis Muscat currently has more than 100 government, semi-government and private companies and institutions working in the fields of information and communication technology (ICT), innovation and digital services, which enhances the Oasis’s position as a specialised centre in the knowledge economy and advanced technologies. The Oasis also hosts a number of national and regional data centres belonging to government agencies, financial institutions and technology and communications companies, in addition to centres specialising in cybersecurity and cloud services, making the Oasis one of the largest clusters specialising in storing and hosting digital data in the Sultanate of Oman.

He pointed out that the total estimated value of the projects being implemented in Knowledge Oasis Muscat is about OMR30.8 million, which reflects the continued efforts to develop the infrastructure and enhance the investment environment to attract quality projects in the technical and knowledge sectors.
He explained that among the most prominent projects currently being implemented in the Oasis is the multi-storey parking building project, which aims to provide about 1,500 parking spaces for vehicles, in addition to office and service spaces, at an estimated cost of OMR8.4 million.

The project has reached 10 percent completion and is expected to be fully completed in May 2027. Another project is related to the maintenance and rehabilitation of Building No. 2 to raise the building's efficiency and improve its operational readiness through the implementation of comprehensive maintenance work, at an estimated cost of OMR1.2 million. The project has reached 40 percent completion and is expected to be completed by August.

Also, the multi-use investment building No. 7 project includes several floors dedicated to offices and commercial services, at an estimated cost of OMR12 million. The project has reached 55 percent completion and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.

He further added that one of the most important qualitative projects in the Oasis is the solar energy project, which aims to produce 1.5 megawatts of electricity to enhance sustainability and reduce the consumption of traditional energy, at a cost of nearly OMR one million. The completion rate has reached about 40 percent and it is expected to be completed in September 2026.

In addition, there is the establishment of the International School project in Knowledge Oasis Muscat, which is being implemented by an investor to serve the workers in the Oasis and the surrounding areas. It targets all educational levels at an investment cost of OMR8.2 million, and the completion rate has exceeded 95 percent. It is expected to receive students in the academic year 2026/2027.

He said that the Knowledge Oasis Muscat, in coordination with the relevant authorities, is working on implementing a project to dualise the road from the entrance of the oasis to the traffic lights of the Sultan Qaboos Integrated Center for Cancer Treatment and Research, with a length of one kilometre, in order to improve the flow of traffic, raise the level of safety and enhance the efficiency of the infrastructure in the area.

The Director General of Knowledge Oasis Muscat affirmed that the projects currently being implemented in the Oasis are part of an integrated plan to develop the infrastructure and enhance the investment environment in line with the expansion of technological and knowledge investments, and support Madayn’s directions in providing an attractive and stimulating work environment for growth.

He pointed out that the next phase will witness the implementation of new quality projects that are consistent with the objectives of the “Oman 2040” vision, which will enhance Madayn’s role as a leading national center in the fields of technology and innovation, and contribute to supporting economic development, diversifying sources of income, and consolidating the Sultanate of Oman’s position as an attractive destination for investment and knowledge.
