The forum was inaugurated under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture. It serves as a leading scientific and professional platform bringing together an elite group of veterinarians and specialists, along with representatives of institutions and companies operating in the livestock sector in Oman. It contributes to the exchange of expertise and knowledge while fostering cooperation in this critical field.

In his address, Eng. Khalfan Matar Al Sharji, Director-General of Livestock at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, stated that the Ministry is committed to supporting veterinarians, enhancing their scientific and practical capabilities, and investing in veterinary competencies to keep pace with growing global health risks.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Al Majali, Regional Representative for the Middle East of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), stated that this celebration hosted by the Sultanate of Oman on the occasion of Veterinary Day is an important opportunity to express appreciation for a profession that plays an essential role in protecting animal health, ensuring food safety, supporting public health, and contributing to the sustainability of livelihoods.

He added that WOAH plays a pivotal role in supporting international efforts to prevent and control animal diseases by establishing international health standards, enhancing transparency in disease reporting, and providing scientific and technical reference for member countries.

It is worth noting that the celebration of this occasion represents an important opportunity to strengthen the partnership between the public and private sectors and to exchange best practices that contribute to achieving sustainability and developing the livestock sector in the Sultanate of Oman.
