Oman captain Jatinder nominated for ICC Men’s Player of the Month

MUSCAT: Oman captain Jatinder Singh has been shortlisted for the coveted ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for April following a string of outstanding performances in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.

The experienced opener enjoyed one of the best ODI months of his career, scoring 266 runs in five matches at an average of 53.20 and a strike rate of more than 115.

Jatinder’s biggest highlight came against Nepal in Kirtipur where he blasted a sensational 130 off just 96 balls — the highest individual ODI score by an Oman batter.

The innings, filled with aggressive strokeplay and controlled hitting, guided Oman to a crucial victory and strengthened their League 2 campaign.

He also struck a fluent 51 against Scotland in Windhoek, Namibia, underlining his consistency at the top of the order as Oman continued to compete strongly on the international stage.

One of Oman cricket’s most experienced players, Jatinder has been a key figure in the national team’s rise in world cricket over the last decade.

The right-handed batter has represented Oman in multiple ICC events, including the T20 World Cup, and captained during the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign in Sri Lanka and India.

Jatinder is now just nine runs short of another milestone (2,000 ODI runs) and has scored so far 1,991 ODI runs in 68 matches, the highest for Oman. He also has hit 1,635 T20I runs in 76 games, also the highest run-getter in T20Is, making him the country’s leading run-scorer in both formats.

Joining Jatinder on the shortlist are Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana and UAE pacer Ajay Kumar.

Rana earned his nomination after taking eight wickets in three ODIs against New Zealand, including a match-winning 5-32 in Mirpur as Bangladesh sealed a 2-1 series victory. Ajay Kumar, meanwhile, impressed in the early stages of his international career by taking nine wickets in his first two ODIs for the UAE, including a six-wicket haul against Oman.
