Tax Authority concludes awareness drive in Dhofar

Salalah: The Tax Authority concluded today an awareness campaign in the Dhofar Governorate titled "Sustainable Tax Partnership and Renewed Awareness."

This comes within a field awareness program implemented by the Authority across the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. It aims to enhance tax awareness, consolidate the culture of voluntary compliance, and contribute to achieving tax fairness through direct communication with the business community.

Tamim Salim Al Khawaldi, Director of the Tax Compliance Department for the Governorates, stated that the campaign comes within the framework of the Tax Authority's strategy aimed at enhancing the partnership between the Authority and taxpayers. This is achieved through direct meetings with institution and company owners and investors, answering their inquiries, and providing awareness regarding tax procedures, obligations, and legislation.

He added that the campaign reviewed commercial practices in the business sector, which contributes to raising the level of voluntary compliance, achieving tax fairness, and enhancing mutual trust between the Authority and taxpayers.

He explained that the campaign focused on consolidating the culture of tax compliance as a national responsibility that contributes to business sustainability and stimulates economic growth. It also introduced the rights and duties of taxpayers and highlighted the role of adherence to tax legislation in supporting economic and social development, as well as enhancing an investment environment characterized by transparency and fairness.

It is worth noting that this campaign represents a sustainable awareness approach, as the Tax Authority will continue to implement its field campaigns periodically in all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. These campaigns will be renewed and repeated according to continuous awareness plans that take into account the needs of each governorate and the latest developments in the tax system.

This enhances partnership with the business community, raises the level of voluntary compliance, and enshrines the principles of fairness and transparency. Consequently, it consolidates a sustainable tax partnership and renewed tax awareness in support of the targets of Oman Vision 2040.
