Customs foils several attempts to smuggle tobacco, cigarettes, firecrackers in Oman

Muscat: Oman Customs has foiled several attempts to smuggle tobacco, prohibited cigarettes and firecrackers in the Sultanate.

In the first case, an attempt to smuggle a number of tobacco products was foiled. Officials also went on to raid two sites in Seeb that were being used for the storage and sale of prohibited cigarettes and tobacco.

In another case officials said that large quantities of banned cigarettes were found inside a vehicle. According to their online statement, "Customs at Shinas Port thwarted an attempt to smuggle quantities of banned cigarettes that were hidden inside the boot of a vehicle on board a ferry."

In the fourth case, officials in Khatmat Malaha foiled an attempt to smuggle fireworks. Officials said that Customs "foiled an attempt to smuggle firecrackers that were hidden tightly inside boxes."
