Tropical depression develops into storm

The tropical depression which is moving westwards off the Indian coast and towards the centre of the Arabian Sea had developed into a tropical storm.

This was revealed by Oman’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation.

Officials also announced that the storm has been officially named Hika.

Direct effects from the storm are expected to begin in Oman on 24 September, with rain and heavy wind over North Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta Governorates.
